THE END IS ETC. is "Waiting for Godot at the Discotheque."
In this context, "the Discotheque" is "America", and we wait, we wait, we wait…

Tedious night after tedious night, gestural put-on after put-on, new age upon age.

At the end of every night, we go home and see what we see.

Then, at dusk, we return—all of us, forever.

Writing a press release for your own album is just like spending a year slowly—slowly—building a gun, piece-by-piece, and then handing it to somebody else to shoot you with.

THE END IS ETC. is the first in a series.

To write a successful news item:
1. Collect events into a narrative.
2. Repeat the narrative until it becomes a truism.
3. Get bored with the truism.
(O, God! They used to have to fill just columns and inches—there’s no retaining wall on the Internet, God help us…)

THE END IS ETC. was recorded at home. In street-facing apartment bedrooms, in concrete-walled boiler rooms, in a single-wide trailer in South Texas. The baby grand piano was recorded in a cathedral, which is the only place to record a baby grand piano—you can’t miss. It was mixed and mastered by Brent Ulrich, in Los Angeles, Calif.

The book, "<< >>", was found at a managed estate sale in Denver, Colo. I fell in love with it immediately—the perfect 1970s retro-optimistic-futurist tract. I bought it for exactly a dollar-fifty. It is authorless, publisherless, as most good manifestos should be. I tried contacting the rights holders—but how would I? No copyright infringement intended or hoped for.
